In a surprising crossover event that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the official release, "An unusual meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.

The mission concentrates on "strange trials and a monstrous foe" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Transformations

The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to several artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

This patch also introduces the game's third no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." True to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially featured a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
